Dr. Pat Crawley and Dr. Mike Lloyd, Cardiologists for Newman Medical Health, told our club that arteriosclerosis, or coronary artery disease is the number one killer in the world. Cholesterol is something that everyone needs...but too much builds up in our arteries as plaque. 65% of the cholesterol in our bodies is made by our own liver, while 35% comes from the food we eat we eat.
 
Prevention tips:
  • ​​​​​​​Look before you eat.
  • Exercise - 30-40 minutes per day; five days per week.
  • Stop smoking
  • Know your number
    • Cholesterol < 200
    • LDL < 100
    • HDL > 40
    • Triglycerides < 150
  • Control your blood pressure
