Emporia Community Foundation
Why establish a fund at the Emporia Community Foundation? Susan Evans and Don Glaser both established a fund for uniquely different purposes. Susan represented the Arvonia Historic Preservation Society, while Don decided to establish a donor advised fund for future gifts for community purposes. Each provided their own unique perspective as to their purpose and their experiences in establishing their funds. Both indicated that the Emporia Community Foundation has gained their trust.

Rotarian Sam Purohit Donates to Salvation Armhy
Rotarian Sam Purohit owns a local hotel, and recently upgraded furniture. Instead of discarding this furniture, Sam chose to donate chairs and wall lamps to the Salvation Army.

Kathryn Kleinholz - RYLA Student
I am amazed at the quality of students who attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. One of the students who attended RYLA - Kathryn Kleinholz spoke at our Rotary Club meeting. Kathryn commented fluently on the activities during the week...the community service project, the small group discussions solving real-world problems (like the Kansas economy), and the diversity and fellowship that she experienced. She indicated that she made lots of friends with whom she continues to communicate through group texts. Kathryn is a talented senior at Emporia High School, who plays tennis and is also a member of the Key Club.

Misty DeDonder and Sherry Roth, EHS teachers in the gifted program attended our club meeting with Kathryn. Misty and Sherry both assist in picking students to invite to attend RYLA.

Our Rotary Club sponsors two students at RYLA each year. Michael Roos was another student who attended, but was unable to come to our club meeting.
Bob Wright New Rotary Club Member
Bob Wright was inducted in our Rotary Club. Julia Pyle proposed Bob for membership. Thanks for joining us, Bob!
Rotary Club Membership Survey

You are invited to participate in a Rotary Membership Survey.  This survey will help us see what we are doing well and how we can improve,  Not only will this help us in recruiting new members, it will help ensure that our current members are satisfied with our club and the work we aspire to do.

To participate in the survey, please click on this link:

The survey is brief and should take only a few minutes.  The survey will remain open until Friday, September 30.

Thank you!

ESU Football
Emporia State University Football Coach Garin Higgins informed our Rotary Club about this year's Hornet football team. They should be fun to watch!
Rick O'Leary New Rotary Club Member
We are pleased to have Rick O'Leary as a new Rotary Club member. Bill Barnes proposed Rick for membership. Thanks for joining us, Rick.
Bruce Boettcher - Public Wholesale Water Supply District #26
Rotarian Bruce Boettcher, of an engineer with BG Consultants, provided some interesting information on a recent completion of the water supply district that services Elmdale, Strong City and Cottonwood Falls in Chase County. The communities worked together to get each of their needs addressed, which included an aging infra-structure and low water pressure. BG Consultants provided their expertise in design, and worked with the Public Wholesale Water Supply District #26 to provide the communities what included a new water treatment plant and the distribution system to provide a quality water supply to the area communities for many years to come. The water quality is notably better than it was.
New Membership Directory
We have a new updated Rotary Club membership directory for club members to have. If you have not yet received one, we still have a supply of them at our weekly club meetings. Our membership directory was provided by Navrat's for free. Richard Duncan was kind enough to put them together and publish them for us. Putting this directory together and publishing them takes a big effort. Many thanks to Richard!
Girl Scout Camp EE Project Update
Our Rotary Club project at Camp Double EE (Girl Scouts camp north of town) is proceeding in its planning stages.
