Our program this week is Kim Dhority, Instructional Design Center at the Flint Hills Technical College, who will talk about some of their new programs.
Emporia High School Debate Coach, Scott Bonnet, spoke at Rotary on October 13th about the EHS Debate team. Mr. Bonnet talked about the topic that was being debated and the season that was underway. Debate is an extra-curricular activity at EHS but is also a scheduled class. Emporia High School Debate is ranked high in the nation and has about 50 students who participate each year. Mr. Bonnet thanked the school district for their support of the program and the students.
Our Rotary Club made a $25,000 donation to Mission Madagascar, the new lemur exhibit at the David Traylor Zoo during a dedication held last week at the zoo. After several years of successful fund raising to fund a goal set by our club, the donation coincides with the start of construction for the new exhibit after getting the total funding needed.
Due to a job change, Tina Khan stepped down from the Rotary Club board of directors. If anyone is interested in being on the board, talk to Teresa Maley right away.
